You’ll practically fly over your next trail when you’re wearing the Mesa Trail. We made the Mesa Trail with lighweight, barefoot-friendly, minimalist running and walking in mind.

But we know you’ll wear it off-trail too. You’ll look great when you pair the Mesa Trail with your favourite jeans, and they are comfortable enough for all-day wear.

The breathable, mesh upper gets rid of the weight and keeps you cool. The moisture wicking "37.5" lining helps keep you dry. The welded protective covering of the adjustable midfoot and instep straps adds durability. The lugged, dual-chevron tread gives you sure-footed traction. And the "hidden" 3mm TrailFoam layer adds the right amount of protection and comfort.

Why you’ll love the Mesa Trail

Natural FIT - A wide toe box lets your toes spread, splay, relax, and function naturally.

Natural MOTION - The Mesa Trail is flexible enough to let your feet bend, move, and flex the way, well, that feet are supposed to. The "XERO-drop" design (non-elevated heel) allows for proper posture, and it’s built low to the ground for balance and agility.

Natural FEEL - The Mesa Trail has a 5mm FeelTrue rubber sole, with 3.5mm lugs to give you the right combination of protection and grip, plus ground feedback, so your brain knows how to move your body optimally. Also, you can remove the 2mm insole, for a closer-to-barefoot experience that lets you Feel The World.

Light weight - So light, you could forget you have them on. A US men’s 9 is about 215g (each).

Huarache-inspired design - The adjustable instep and midfoot straps are not just eye-catching but functional, giving you a secure and comfortable fit.

Vegan-friendly materials - No animal products are used in the Mesa Trail.

  1. Simply perfect... Review by Myles

I decided to wait until 300+ miles in before leaving a review for the Mesa Trail. These are quite honestly, perfect. Super comfy, super grippy and super lightweight. After 300 miles there are no of signs any build or material problems at all, just natural wear pattern on the grips, which is usual. I use these for wet, boggy trail runs, and throughout the cold winter months. Only need to wear socks with them in winter. I use the Genesis sandals for dry trail runs, and these are superb for other reasons. The Mesa seems to be the upgrade from the Teraflex in my humble opinion, which I used previously. They are better designed, have better lighter materials and are tougher. I will continue to buy these without question. Also, just to note: the customer service at Xero is second to none. The best. 2. I've found the perfect shoe : ) Review by Joanne

I've been searching for years now for a good truly minimal trail shoe and the Mesa Trail is it. I have been running in 5 Fingers (not quite enough sole protection on rocky stuff and pretty unpleasant in cold wet conditions) and Vivobarefoot Primus Trail (not wide enough and too much tread to feel the ground properly) and both are great in their own way, but the Mesa Trails have the perfect fit and sole protection. I bought the correct size according to my foot measurements and on first try they felt a little too big but don't be fooled if you feel the same, when running the extra space for your tootsies feels great. I highly recommend this shoe, and only wish I'd discovered them sooner. (Posted on 02/07/2020)

  3. Wow!!! Review by Greg

Got the box and before I opened it I thought possibly they had only put one shoe inside! That's how light the Mesa Trail shoes are! I couldn't contain myself, so I immediately went for a run and found the shoes to be just amazing. I run on a coastal path that is a mix of sand, rock and dirt/mud and it felt like I had nothing on my feet. The shoes fit so comfortably snug it almost felt like I was running in socks. What a great shoe. The real test will be the winter as I live in North Wales and winters are wet! So, until next time - happy travels! (Posted on 13/06/2020)

  4. Great trail shoe Review by Chris

I've been able to try these out off road and so far they're great. Really comfortable, lightweight and flexible, good room in the toe box, a removable insole for plenty of cushion for rocks and roots (feels good with or without the insole), and great looking.

Even though it's a trail shoe, I could see me wearing this as an everyday shoe with how comfortable they are and how good they look.

I like the traction on the sole, with grippy rubber and a good lug pattern so it grips the ground well but with lugs far enough apart so that they don't catch mud.

The sizing seems to run similar to the Prio. I wear a US 12 in the Prio, and the US 12 in the Mesa Trail worked well for me too.

This is my new favorite trail shoe.
