Xero Shoes Sizing

Shoe sizing, especially online, is not a perfect process. Also, barefoot sandals don’t always fit the same as shoes, or other sandals. And you probably have shoes of different sizes that fit you correctly. Just because you wear, for example, a size 10 Nike Free, that doesn’t mean you’ll wear a size 10 Z-Trail (and most likely you have other shoes that are 9.5 or 10.5… so are you really a 10?). Also since the foot is three-dimensional, any two-dimensional measuring tool (such as a ruler or Brannock device) can only approximate your true shoe size. Manufacturers model their shoes on different foot shapes, so sizing may vary accordingly.

To help reduce the chance of getting an incorrect size, we HIGHLY recommend you follow the instructions below.

Note that our sizing recommendations are based on customer feedback and we provide advice on a best efforts basis, however we cannot 100% guarantee a proper fit.

Step 1 - Measure your foot

- Place a piece of paper against a wall (if you have VERY large feet, use a piece of newspaper).
- Place your foot on the paper, with your heel against the wall.
- Make a mark on the paper at the furthest point away from the wall… this will either be just in front of your big toe or second toe.
- Take a ruler and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark you made.

Here’s a video showing the process...

Step 2 - Check your measurement against the sizing charts

Each model of shoe/boot/sandal has specific sizing information to help you find the best fit. This includes the US / UK sizing and the maximum recommended foot length for each size.

Men's and Women's Fit

Most Xero Shoes models are available in men's and women's fit (apart from the Cloud and Genesis sandals which are unisex).

All of the men’s shoes are wider than conventional men’s shoes. If you normally wear a larger size to get a wider fit in conventional shoes, you may not have to do that with Xero Shoes.

While the women’s shoes are wider than conventional women’s shoes, they are approximately 2mm or so narrower than the men's equivalent (throughout the length of the shoe, including the ankle area). Many of our female customers with wider feet have found that the men's fit is perfect for them.
